Overview
Carla had just finished her Masters of Social work at the University of Victoria. She setup her website using Squarespace and was ready to go. In May of 2019, she realized that posting on social media was not generating any clients so she reached out to me. Our initial discussion was about getting traffic to her website as quickly as possible and we setup a Google Ads campaign. After a few months I started on her SEO and optimizing the website.
At that time, she was the only counsellor and the focus was on generating clients who were searching broadly for counselling and therapy services along with those searching about depression and anxiety support. I setup her campaign and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the leads started to roll in.
On Site SEO Strategy
I optimized her homepage to target people searching therapy/counselling in Victoria BC. Furthermore she setup separate pages for specific types of therapy/counselling like couples, anxiety, depression, psychedelic integration and more. I then optimized those pages to target people searching for those types of therapy in and around Victoria BC.
Optimization of these pages includes the text content itself and the SEO meta page title and page descriptions.
Off Site SEO Strategy
Off site SEO is a hot topic as it relates to creating a date profile of your website and business for Google to crawl.
I first started by creating over 100 business listings on business directories like Yelp, YellowPages, Foursquare. Business listings also have links back to your website (backlinks) which are important for SEO and increasing your search rankings.
I needed to create more backlinks and I created backlinks on social bookmark websites, health blogs and other local websites. In the end, 532 backlinks were created!
As I do with all my SEO clients, I utilize Bright Local SEO software to track lots of metrics. One of which is the local rank tracker. Here’s a look at Carla’s local rank tracker from 2019 until July 2020.
