In August 2017, Will Bratt from Heart & Oak Therapy contacted me to help with their SEO. They already had a decent website that was somewhat well-optimized for SEO and keywords. My work was completed in a couple of months, and they enjoyed lots of organic traffic and leads.
They contacted me again in May of 2022 as their website had slipped a few spots in the rankings. After some short work and adjustments, I recovered their rankings.
I optimized their homepage to target people searching therapy/counselling in Victoria BC. Furthermore, they had already setup separate pages for specific types of therapy/counselling like couples, anxiety, trauma and more. I then optimized those pages to target people searching for those types of therapy in and around Victoria BC.
Optimization of these pages includes the text content itself and the SEO meta page title and page descriptions.
Off site SEO is a hot topic as it relates to creating a date profile of your website and business for Google to crawl.
I first started by creating over 100 business listings on business directories like Yelp, YellowPages, Foursquare. Business listings also have links back to your website (backlinks) which are important for SEO and increasing your search rankings.
I needed to create more backlinks and I created backlinks on social bookmark websites, health blogs and other local websites. In the end, 258 backlinks were created!
To see what was working, I set up goals in their Google Analytics accounts to determine what keywords were generating web form submissions. This is an important step to manage the account on an ongoing basis and to make changes to focus on the keywords that are generating the most engagement and goals.
